The Southern half of Australia will get drier with climate change. It has started to happen, and we will see fewer wet years, along with worsening bush fires. Milk yields from dairy farms are predicted to be reduced by 30% by 2050 (CSIRO) due to heat stress on cows, and reduced heard sizes due to reduced water available for irrigation. That will all have profound impact on the economy of the South Coast. The impact on the Bega Cheese factory, the biggest employer on the South Coast, is hard to predict, but they will have to alter the way they run their show if they are going to keep up with changing times.
What better place to paint a 50/50 by 2020 target than on a water tank.
CEFE will have to come up with a bit of a prize for anyone who can guess where the water tank is. A clue? .... it is somewhere in SE NSW.
