A demanding 58 km 3-4 hour ride of at least 4 parts with 1400 m of climbing (the only flat roads in Bega are very short). This a ride that begins with undulating all weather smooth dirt farm roads, involves a wet river crossing followed by a serious climb, a crossing of the rough national and state park roads and then finally a long smooth descent off Doctor George to Bega. Water can be taken from Stoney Creek or the Brogo River. An interesting diverstion can be made to the spectacular and sacred site of the local Yuin people at Mumbla Falls. Beware of wallabies and unexpected vehicles as you cross the forest. Never 20 km from Bega, various short cuts back to town are possible along the Princess highway or through Greendale and Angledale (excellent smooth dirt roads), if necessary. (Refer to Angledale loop ride).
Day 3 of the Sea to Summit ride. You start the day with an absolutely magnificent descent that finishes at one of the Snowy dams only to then have to climb back up again. There are several big climbs between Khancoban and Thredbo with the 2 major climbs 23kms out of Thredbo absolute monsters. It may be a good ideea to break this ride into two by overnighting at Khancoban to freshen up for the big hills into Thredbo.
